Oct 1 Lake Como

Lake Como is located in northern Italy near the Swiss border. It has been a popular summer retreat since Roman times. Shaped like a wishbone and surrounded by mountains, it covers 56 square miles and reaches a depth of 1300 feet with the bottom 600 feet below sea level. The shore is dotted with palaces and villas.
It is early fall here and one can sense it in the air just like in Nebraska. Yesterday was cool and clouds and haze hid the distant villages along the lake shore. Vines are showing their fall colors and the season is clearly winding down around the lake.
Earlier in the day, when we left the cruise ship in Venice, there was a fog shrouding the city.

Some views along Lake Como.
