Seefeld (Austria), 14 miles west of Innsbruck, hosted some of the Nordic events in the 1964 and 1972 winter Olympics. It is now a popular ski and summer resort. Yesterday, as we strolled in the village, we stumbled onto an open air music festival with a large tent where the audience could sit and enjoy food and beverages as they listened to the band. The band was on the stage that was used for the award ceremonies for the 1964 Olympics (the Olympic rings were still above the stage). We shared an order of schnitzel and pommes frites. Two Tyrolian gentlemen (about our age) sitting at our long table, started a conversation with us (first in German but then they changed to English). Before long (probably because they liked Barb), they adopted us as friends and bought us each a cup of coffee and later a small regional distilled fruit liqueur for a toast. You never know what kind of adventure awaits you in Europe but the Swiss and Austrians are all very hospitable and generous.
