Aug 18 Lodging and mountain strolls

Someone asked about our lodging. We have used web sites like Airbnb and Homeaway to rent privately owned vacation apartments for 3 to 7 days at a time. This way we can have a private apartment with kitchen for half the cost of a hotel. We can also prepare our own meals as restaurant prices here are twice or more than prices in Lincoln. The apartments are always clean, tidy, and well furnished.

($550 for 7 nights -  peak summer season rate)

Bedroom with duvets (the common bedding here).
Door leads to a small deck overlooking the valley.

Second bedroom serves as luggage and dressing room

Lunch on the deck overlooking the valley
(grilled Emmental cheese sandwich, fruit, & apple juice)

Strolling the mountain walking paths can sometimes mean passing a cow on the trail. Flumserberg is 3000+ feet above the valley and the cows will remain in the high meadows until October when they will be led to the valley in ceremonial parades with large bells around their necks and the men and women in Swiss regalia.
