The villages of Feld am See (Feld at the lake) and Dobriach in southern Austria are popular summer vacation destinations for Europeans (lakes, mountain hiking, biking). They are only 40 miles from Mojstrana by the route we took - a secondary road that crosses a low mountain pass between Podkoren Slovenia and Villach Austria.
When we reached the border, we were asked to show our passports. This was the first time we had been asked for IDs when we crossed from one European Union country to another. Our host in Dobriach told us that, due to the impact of the uncontolled influx of refugees, border checks were now being made for entry into Austria.

Can anyone tell me what these white "berries" are?

Every Tuesday evening Dobriach has a small
market at the village center - perhaps a dozen
vendors with their wares (meat, cheese, etc)
but mostly a social gathering for
brats and beer.
